Bauer's Day Out

Bauer was ready to go as soon as he found out I was getting dressed and had finished my morning coffee (warm to the last drop with the help of a beautiful coffee cozie) he had already ruffled his ~~feathers~~ stitches and made himself home guarding the crafting cash stash in my purse.....

It was a kinda crummy day so all we did was go shopping. But boy did we get into some trouble!

Bauer decided he wanted to ride on the dash, I shouldn't have let him. Hes a total ~~backseat~~ dashboard driver!!!

We made it safe to our first stop. He was excited. The ladies working all adored him and wanted to know where to get one. I told them to become a Friend Of Craftster and join our next swap. If they were lucky enough they MIGHT get partnered up with kbauer Some of them were lost, so I gave them directions craftster.org of course!!!

Its a good thing everyone there liked him. He seemed to be more attracted to the breakables, but I learned he can spell! Not only is he adorable; he's smart too! Why would anyone want glass alphabet balls? It reminded me of bingo.

After getting bored looking at pinewood derby car gear for my younger brother. Bauer ran off!!! I was a lil worried when I turned to see he was not with soccerangel either. But I had an idea of where to find him.... its all my fault really.......I should not have told him um-teen-million times last night how adorable he was........

He was promptly put back in my bag so he would stay out of trouble. The last thing I need is a broken mirror and 7 years ad luck..... so we headed to get goodies for soccerangels personal swap partner..... Suddenly it hit all of us WE WERE STARVING! Soccerangel suggested Bojangles so we headed out.

He told me he didn't like chicken so I told him it was chicken of the sea, hes so gullible! Ive never seen anyone drink so much sweet tea either! geesh!

We left there to get more supplies and some groceries for mom. WalMart it is. We nearly got kicked out when Bauer was caught guzzling coffee beans straight from the dispenser!
From WalMart we went to Hancock. Bauer stayed hidden in my purse the ladies in there are very bitter, I don't see how anyone can be unhappy around such beautiful fabric and supplies galore! I'm completely baffled, Bauer took a short nap while we found more goodies for soccerangels swap. Some new toys for my sewing machine too. As soon as we get back in the car Bauer woke up and decided he wanted to drive, Again, I did not think this was a good Idea but he promptly turned up my new Between The Trees CD and went to "White lines an Red Lights" so to drown out my cautious words. We made it home in record speed, he set the cruse but never did hit the brakes .... I'm surprised we're still alive.

Now that we are home I can work on mine and Bauers surprise and Soccerangel is working on her yummy goodies. Crafting never stops here!

Friends of Craftster Secret Swap...

I joined the Friends Of Craftster Secret Swap as my first official swap I had faemystique as my partner to craft for and kbauer crafted for me ( her anazingness can be found here )! It was so much fun to stalk my partner to make her things, I went with a assortment of things she likes and I hope she enjoys them all as much as I enjoyed making them for her. I wrapped everything in tissue paper with little rhymes attached:

I can even help carry groceries home....

I got this image from another craftster. She drew it for a swap and I asked if she would mind if I used it. She was happy to oblige, so I printed it on canvas and made a snap pouch for faemystique. I have a coffee cup with this image :0)

I added recipe cards I had doubles of and a personal favorite ..... a recipe for homemade KALUAH! I had so much fun! I can't wait to do this again!!! And here is a shot of all the loot together!

Alternate Zipper For Wallet Tutorial

Every measurement is the same EXCEPT the inner fabric and interfacing. ADD an INCH

Measure 1 1/2 inch from the top of your INTERFACING
Cut your fabric across here
line up right sides together and sew using 1/2 inch seam allowance and longest stitch possible(you will rip this out later)
This will make your zipper 1" from the top of the wallet and make your inner piece back to the 10" size like your outter fabric.
Press that sucker down GOOD!Pin your zipper directly on top of you seam
Sew your zipper in place. only on sides shown, you dont have to go all the way around this one
Rip out that seam we talked about earlier :o)

Continue to make the wallet the same way as before. JUST be sue to open your zipper when you stitch everything together or you wont be able to open it later LOL!

To me this is MUCH simpler than the other zipper! I think I like the look better too!

I posted this on craftster (best crafty website ever) and had some requests to do a tutorial. It might be long winded .... ha! If you have any questions the original thread is here. Ask away!

PLEASE read all the way through first.

Gather your materials...

~outer fabric 5x11 and interfacing 4x10

~inner fabric 5x11 and interfacing 4x10

~pocket 1 (at the very bottom) fabric 5x5 interfacing 4x5

~pocket 2 (in center section) fabric 5x4 interfacing 4x4

~pocket 3(in center section) fabric 5x4 interfacing 4x4

~fabric for zipper (optional) 5x5

~closure flap whatever size you want in fabric and interfacing

for this one I used a much smaller size than on the original (3" wide)

~zipper

~closure of your choice, Velcro, snaps, buttons, magnetic

(although magnetic might mess up your credit cards)

I draw my pattern right on the interfacing the sizes above for the fabric have a 1/2" seam allowance

iron your interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric. all pieces.

Fold your pockets in half length wise (right sides out)and PRESS

Stitch as close to the folded edge as you like to "finish" the edge and set aside till later.
The hardest part? The zipper, so lets get that done!

mark on the interfacing of the inner fabric where you want the zipper and how long Sew around that to reinforce, with a craft knife, rotary cutter etc cut a line in the center of your window and out toward the corners. Fold the fabric in and PRESS. Now stitch down your flaps as close to the edge as you can. Position your zipper and pin in place. Sew around as close to your last stitches as you can and be sure to reinforce the end of the zipper. Trim excess, flip over and breath! Its over!

(if this confuses you there is a tut on craftster for this no sure where though!)

position your pocket 1 where you want the top of it to be and pin to the right side of your inner fabric (again I drew all this on my interfacing) You do not have to stitch this down unless you want to do a basting stitch on the seam allowance to hold it better than pins. I forgot to take a pic of this but you can see it in the one of all the pockets a little farther down.

position pocket 2 (this is the back/top pocket in the center section) the same way but you will be sewing this one. Figure how deep you want the pocket to be and sew the BOTTOM all the way across to your inner fabric. Trim excess.For the 3rd pocket you need to figure out where you want the top to be, and fold up the bottom to how deep you want it. Sew this along the bottom but with the pocket going the wrong way. trim excess ( I like to zig zag stitch the extra down)

now fold your pocket up the right way and PRESS! Pin in place or you can baste stitch up the sides of your pockets now in the seam allowance.

All your pockets are now in place

Sew your closure flap by folding right sides together and sewing 3 sides. flip and press.

Mark where you want your closure device to go. Again I marked it on the interfacing. attach one part of device to outer fabric now. Your device should be in the middle section of the wallet.

line up your inner and outer fabric RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER and pin into place.
IF you chose to use the pocket lining pin it WRONG SIDE UP over the zipper on the inner fabric.

Sew up three sided leaving the top (by the zipper open for flipping and adding the flap)
*HINT* You can sew right along the interfacing. The dimensions I gave you for it are the end measurements for the wallet.

Turn right side out and PRESS THAT SUCKER GOOD!

Fold your wallet and press the folds,

stitch across your folds, you need this most between the zipper and middle section to keep your things up top instead of falling to the bottom of the wallet. Take your top part and fold in and PRESS . Take your closure flap and place it in the top part and mark where your other part of your closure is going to go. Attach your closure and pin flap into place.

Starting in the corner stitch as close to the edge as you can around ALL sides backstitching at the corners and again where you started stitching.

BREATH again and enjoy your craftiness!!!

I hope this was easy enough to understand. If not just ask and I'll do my best to explain.

A week later and I finally get around to an update! Our vacation/family reunion was a BLAST! We stayed at Jellystone Park (with Yogi Bear!!) Mom, Jeff, April, Jeremy, Shawn, Keira and myself stayed in one cabin. My aunt, two cousins Brittany and Brandon (peakin in the picture below) and my Grandma stayed in the cabin next to us. We got there on Friday checked in and went to see the BRAND NEW facilities for party's. We were the very first to get to use them. Then we went on the train ride around the park and got to wake up Yogi. We went back to the cabins and had dinner and got things organized for the reunion on Sat. I wont go into that here in this blog, mostly people I haven't seen in at least 20 years so I knew NO ONE!
Sunday we went to church then to Katlyns (sp?) going away party then we headed to Grants Farm to see all the animals :o) It was HOT but so much fun to see all the animals and Keiras reaction to them all!!!
When we got back from Grants Farm we all went swimming, my daughter is now a PRO at jumping in the pool. ALL BY HERSELF! She finally got the hint it wasn't a good idea to do it without someone. Shes a daredevil just like me I love it and hate it at the same time!!!
Monday we went to 6 Flags. My favorite part was that Shawn got to spend time with Keira, she adores him BTW! It was so much fun! Last time I was at any type of theme park I was pregnant so I couldn't do anything but this time I went on EVERYTHING! I hated that Shawn had to leave Monday night and drive all the way home so late but I cherish every minute I had with him!

New Camera! 08.08.07

I wasn't expecting to get it today but it came, right after we sat down for dinner (figures) I unpackaged everything and could not be happier! I didnt play too much cause Im SUPER tired but I managed to snap a shot of my mom without her glasses when using the remote capture ... then aded makeup in PS. My moms such a good sport!

Today is my mom and bonus dads anniversary, though because of their hectic schedules they went out last night. Dinner and a movie, and mom borrowed my lil black dress (HeeHee!) Congratulations to you guys I LOVE YOU!

Other than that today was pretty boring. We are trying to locate a substitute camera for the family reunion... we'll see how that pans out.

Got some great news from Shawn but I don't want to jinx anything so untill it happens you won't hear it from me! Good night all!

A bad day turns worse, then a little ray of hope!

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. My head hurt from crying. (yes because of my camera) I went to work with all my gear,and at lunch I went to Wolf camera. No good news. The error that pops up is most commonly found after the camera has been dropped, it would be out for 4-7 weeks if I sent it of to be POSSIBLY fixed, and cost 3-5 HUNDRED dollars. I was advised to use an external flash at all times instead for the time being. Save money and buy a new camera.

confessed to dropping it. That took a lot of courage to do, he could have lied but he didn't and I am SO very PROUD of him for that.

When I get home my computer is acting funny all the sudden everything is SUPER SIZED! So I run a system check ... nothing, defrag it ... nothing. I decided to give up and turn it off. After getting the youngin's fed and Keira in bed I try to turn it on again, to my horror it starts a PC RECOVERY. I couldn't stop it! All I could do was sit there and PRAY if nothing else it spares my pictures. Most of them I have no back up for. Like the two in this post.

Shawn's on the phone crossing his fingers, April is beside me watching everything crossing her fingers and I'm almost in tears.

My computer finally finishes and restarts ....... nothing ...... 5 min pass ....... nothing ........ finally it starts, EVERYTHING reverted back to the way it was when first installed. It was going through so many scans I couldn't get to my pictures. ..... When I could EVERYTHING was gone. EVERY LAST PICTURE! I started to cry. Then I noticed that some of the applications I had put on after were still there ........ PICASA! I opened it and it asked me if I wanted to scan the compute so I lost that glimmer of hope but did it anyway to get out of that screen .... all of the sudden THERE they are!!!!! PICASA found my pictures!!!!! I absolutely love Google! And an added bonus, my computers not f*ed anymore!!!! So my computer is fixed now its my cameras turn =[

It figures, no post yesterday cause my cameras broken. I was too busy trying to fix it and/or find a solution to the "problem" so this is yesterdays post. =] And the pictures Ive chosen are none other than the two people who keep me looking forward to the future rather than the CRAP of today! My baby girl of course an my love. Without these two I don't know where Id be!

I figured what better day to start my new blog than the first day of my birth month. I've decided that this year I'm celebrating every day this month. AND I'm going to take a picture everyday (not that I don't already do this) to post. We'll see how well I keep it up. My first picture ....

I can't even begin to explain the idiots that work at the State Troopers office where I had to go to get my AL license. I have made a total of 4 trips to get this done each time told I needed something ELSE before I could get it. On the third trip I was sure I had EVERYTHING and I did just not the right birth certificate. I had to have a ORIGINAL ... WTF? The lady told me since I've waited I might as well get all the other stuff taken care of. So I did, gave all my info, took my picture (I looked cute that day too) etc... I was told all I would have to do is bring in an original birth certificate and I'd be done ...

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN it would not be that easy. After searching my mom and I found my ORIGINAL and a LEGAL (it even said it on there) copy- to be used for legal purposes. I head up there bright and early, not bothering with hair or make-up because they already have a GREAT picture stored. When I get there (30 min. before they open) 15 people were at the door already. So I get in line. When the doors open I wait my turn to get a number, I get to one of the lovely ladies and tell her what I need, "Oh honey this wont work it doesn't even have the state seal on it" WHAT? Yes it does, its just not GOLD, its a raised imprinted ORIGINAL birth certificate, and here is a LEGAL; even says it; copy. "I'll have to check with my supervisor, take a seat"
She continues with the 15 or so people who were behind me and I suddenly realize she never gave me a number!!! Uuuuggghhhh! She comes back from her supervisor and says "this will work" hands me a ticket, what do you know # 38. So now I'm last in line. After being there for about 1.5 hours I was pretty aggravated. I finally go in and sit down with a different lady. Give her the birth certificate ... "This WILL NOT WORK" -yeah she raised her voice. After a long battle about who told me what earlier things finally got settled. "Ok Miss go stand in front of the blue background ..." UH WHAT? You mean you can't use the picture you have on file like I was told you would do or I would have made myself a little more presentable? "NO! Your picture is taken EVERY time you come in here missy" ---------- Even more pissed I go to the backdrop and SMILE, I figured hell if I'm gonna look bad on this thing I'm at least gonna be smiling. Guess how long I stand there while she takes another customer who so rudely interrupts? 10 MINUTES! And this is what I get. A AL driver license that looks like; as my boss put it ... "one of those poor misfortunate girls who got mistaken for a crime and thrown in the slammer, has a few babies and deadbeat boyfriend at home in the trailer park they share with her ex-fiances brother and his dogs. Has her mug shot taken all the while thinking, when I get out I'm gonna kill you!"
